Read Together

Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

[24] And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Talk About It

God made us to need other people! In Hebrews, He tells us to meet together so we can encourage each other, help one another do what’s right, and remind each other that God loves us. Sometimes being with others—at church, in a group, or with family—can be hard if we’re busy or tired, but God uses these times to fill us with hope and courage. Together we are like the parts of a team, each one important for helping others grow strong. Building real friendships and church family takes kindness, patience, and sometimes saying sorry or forgiving. Even when people are different from us or make mistakes, God wants our love to hold us together. That’s why we gather with other believers—not just to get help, but to encourage others too! When we stick together, we learn, love, and even have more fun. Jesus is always with us, especially when we care for each other in community.

For Parents to Explain

Dear God, thank You for giving us people to love, help, and encourage. Help us to build up our friends and family and be a blessing in our community. Amen.

Family Activities

Encouragement Notes

  1. Each family member thinks of someone who could use a kind word—a church friend, classmate, or neighbor.
  2. Write, draw, or decorate a note of encouragement or a favorite Bible verse.
  3. Deliver or mail your notes during the week.
  4. Afterwards, share how it felt to encourage someone and how they responded.

Community Helper Jar

  1. Write down simple ways to help or serve others—like cleaning up, inviting someone to play, or praying for a friend—on slips of paper.
  2. Place the slips in a jar and take turns choosing one each day.
  3. Do the action and talk about how it made a difference for someone else.
  4. Pray together, thanking God for the chance to help others as a family.

Family Prayer

Let’s each pray for someone outside our family who needs encouragement, and ask God to help us show His love in our groups and friendships this week.
